→Sometimes to keep it cool or sometimes to make sure other animals or predators couldnt eat it.
7. In your own words explain how to build a hangi.
→Prepare all of your ingredients, like meat, and vegetables like potatoes, pumpkin and kumara. Dont forget your yummy stuffing.
Make sure to have really good hot volcanic rocks that will make sure they keep the heat and heat the food
You then need to heat these rocks up in the bottom of the pit
You need to pack and wrap all of your foot in big baskets so you can put these in the pit
Once the rocks are really hot
You put the baskets on top of the rocks
You cover the baskets with your wet sacks or sheets
The steam and heat cooks the food for a couple of hours
Once its ready you pull the dirt and sheets and or sacks off
Pull the baskets out take them to a safe place to start sharing the food out
Everybody has a kai!
